ANGLOPHONE ARMED CONFLICT TURNS IN TO SCORE SETTLING OVER CHIEFTAINCY CRISIS IN BABA 1 VILLAGE, NGOKETUNJIA DIVISION,CAMEROON.WE WISH TO BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AS FOLLOWS:

  1. That according to a Facebook post by  »Dr KontriMan Junior », a pro government activist, dated April 19, 2025, three (3) individuals from Baba 1 Village, Babessi sub division, North West region, are accused of being Ambazonia Separatists with their pictures displayed online. The suspects include Melo Bertrand, popularly known as « Moh Kabila, » Mohndzembakop Hilary Shiwoh (based in South Africa), and his father, Mohndzembakop Christopher.
  2. That this isn’t the first time such accusations have circulated online. The Guardian Post article published early April 2025 mentioned Mohndzebakop Hilary’s name alongside other alleged separatists on a list sent to the newspaper with signatures of anonymous persons claiming to be Baba 1 elites, though till date non of the elites has publicly claimed responsibility for the said publication.
  3. That however, credible sources in Baba 1 Village including notables, elites, youths,women and some of the accused persons declared the accused persons have no link with the Ambazonian Separatists nor involvement in the ongoing armed conflict in Anglophone regions of Cameroon and have been falsely accused as Separatists due to their different family problems or the ongoing Chieftaincy crisis in the Village. The investigations further revealed the following informations concerning the three( 3) accused persons:
    a. That Melo Bertrand (Moh Kabila)is a Prince of Baba 1 Village and son of the late Fon HRH Fon FueKemshi II. Since the demise of his father he has been in total disagreement with some of his Uncles and brothers over the enthronement of the new Fon, HRH Fuenkaghaperr II, and the management of his late father’s properties, hence leading to a serious family dispute and that accusing him as a Separatist is a strategy to silence him.
    b. That Mohndzembakop Christopher claims to be a kingmaker and one of the head of Ngumba (Nwarngang) in Baba 1 (Papiakum) Fondom, and is being falsely accused as an Ambazonia Separatist due to his opposition to the current Fon’s enthronement procedures. He and other kingmakers contested the enthronment procedures of HRH Fon Fuenkaghaperr II in a written document addressed to the Administrative authorities of the North West region, shortly after the enthronment of the Fon. They claimed to be the authentic « Ngumba » and Kingmakers of the Baba 1 Village, declaring that all those who participated in the enthronment procedures had no rights to do so and therefore do not recognize the new Fon until all the necessary traditional rites are performed on him. However,other opinions from the Village alleged Mohndzembkop Christopher had deserted his function as a Kingmaker during the reign of HRH Fuekemshi II’s and had been replaced.
    c. Mohndzebakop Hilary Shiwoh, a Cameroonian residence in South Africa and son of Mohndzembkop Christopher, contacted denies any relation with Ambazonia Separatists nor involvement in any of their activities. Thereby attributing the false accusations to his defense of his father’s stance on the chieftaincy conflict. These facts were corroborated by virtually all those interviewed.
  4. That these unfounded allegations published by « Dr KontriMan Jr » can further exacerbate the conflict, posing significant dangers to the lives of the three accused civilians. And that this is not the first time the Facebook page of « Dr KontriMan Jr » is publishing information of innocent civilians as Ambazonian Separatists.For instance in thesame Baba 1 Village 2 unarmed civilians(brothers)were killed last month March 2025 by members of Cameroon Defense forces during a Military raid and their pictures were posted on this same Facebook page as Ambazonian Separatists.
  5. That this incident is happening amidst a tense atmosphere in Baba 1 Village, where unarmed civilians lives are endangered due to the systematic activities of Cameroon Defense and Security forces and armed separatist groups, including extrajudicial killings, kidnappings for ransom, arbitrary arrests and detentions, torture, Lootings etc.
  6. That at the time of writing this report, there has not been any official reaction from the traditional authority of Baba 1, nor from any other local group.
    THAT IN VIEW OF THE ABOVE, CONSCIENCE AFRICAINE:,
  7. Condemns in Strongest terms the exposure of the lives of Melo Bertrand, Mohndzebakop Christopher and Mohndzembkop Hilary to danger by « Dr KontriMan Jr », while calling for the immediate withdrawal of his post.
  8. Demands « Dr KontriMan Jr » to always conduct thorough investigation each time an information is sent to him before publication, so as to avoid being used by scrupulous individuals to settle scores with innocent people.
  9. Urge those tagging their fellow brothers as separatists over differences to refrain from such acts and instead seek a peaceful and durable solution to their problems through amicable settlements.
  10. Calls on the armed Separatists to case from kidnappings, detentions and torturing of unarmed civilians, while immediatly and unconditionally releasing all those currently being held in their captivity.
  11. Urge the local Administrative authorities of the region to probe into the situation in Baba 1 Village by carrying out thorough investigations, so as to facilitate dialogue and peaceful resolution to this differences which seems critical.

ONCE AGAIN: CAMEROON’S FORGOTTEN CONFLICT CLAIMS THE LIVES OF 04 UNARMED CIVILIANS IN ANGLOPHONE REGIONS WITHIN 24 HOURSWE WISH TO BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AS FOLLOWS:That according to eyewitnesses and family sources, two attacks were perpetrated by Defense forces and armed separatists on March 17, 2025, in Baba 1, Ngoketunjia division, North West region, and Bomaka , in Buea sub division, South West region, respectively. These attacks resulted in the killing of 04(four) unarmed civilians, including a person with disability, and the injury of one other.That the first incident occurred in Baba 1 village, Ngoketunjia division, Northwest region where members of the Cameroon Defense Forces launched an attack on a building where separatists were holding kidnapped civilians. The attack claimed the lives of Petinjoh Mamah and Petinjoh Raymond(a lame man), while another civilian was injured. Additionally, one armed separatist was killed during the attack. However, the Defense forces also managed to free some captives which included some Fulani herders who were being held by the separatists. Further investigation revealed, the victims had recently visited the village to perform the one year traditional rites for their deceased mother, before being summoned and detained by armed separatists over a land dispute before the unfortunate attack by Defense forces claimed their lives.That in the second incident, eyewitnesses reported that two taxi drivers in Bomaka, Muea, Buea sub division, South West region, were brutally assassinated and their Taxis partially damaged by unknown armed men, allegedly armed separatists. Sources claim that the separatists accused the taxi drivers of disrespecting the Monday ghost town day.That the conflict in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon has now spanned nearly a decade, with grievous human rights violations and abuses and severe material damages being perpetrated by conflicting parties on a persistent and almost daily basis. Despite the escalating violence, the Cameroonian authorities has maintained silence regarding the recent incidents.That, however, a pro government activist « Dr KontriMan Jr » took to social media (Facebook)to claim that 03 Terrorists were killed by Defense forces and 06 captives set free in Ngoketunjia, Baba 1. This assertion contradicts eyewitness accounts and family sources, which identify 02 of the victims as unarmed civilians and 01 Separatist.That in view of the above, Conscience Africaine;

HRH Fon Kenneth Asobo III, the paramount ruler of the Pinyin clan has reacted to the recent killing of six unarmed civilians in his Kingdom allegedly by members of Cameroon Defense forces on Sunday, February 23,2025. In a press release dated February 25,2025,His Royal Majesty has called on his people to remain steadfast in the face of this lost.In his words he added « in the light of these devastating event, the traditional corps of our land has been urgently convened in council to reflect on a way forward and to explore all avenues for restoring peace and justice to the Kingdom.It’s only through peace, dialogue and understanding that we will ever break free from this cycle of suffering « .
