WE WISH TO BRING TO THE ATTENTION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AS FOLLOWS;

1.That aaccording to reliable sources, Unknown individuals forcibly brake into the Office of « Nouveaux Droits de l’Homme-Cameroon » on the night of January 18 breaking 19, 2025, taking away vital documents and electronic devices.
2.That this incident is particularly troubling given that Nouveaux Droits de l’Homme’s Executive Director, Mrs. Cyrille Rolande Bechon, had received numerous threats from unknown persons recently regarding her human rights work. Moreover, this is not an isolated incident, as Human rights Defenders in Cameroon are facing systematic threats, intimidation and other hostile acts.
3.That Nouveaux Droits de l’Homme is a prominent human rights organization in Cameroon, working tirelessly to promote and defend human rights. Their efforts are crucial in promoting justice, equality, and human dignity.

CONSCIENCE AFRICAINE: 1. Condemns the break-in, regrets the systematic threats, and calls for an immediate investigation.
2.Urge authorities to guarantee protection for human rights defenders, who risk their lives to promote justice, equality, and human dignity.
